Nobel Laureate Wangari Maathai is claiming her life is in danger after receiving death threats from a group identifying itself as the outlawed Mungiki militia. Maathai told Africanews.com on telephone that she received a text message warning her.
The text reads: "You have been opposed to the government and we have noted that and we will be coming for your head."
The text message added a Swahili rider, " chunga kichwa chako..(Look after your head)"
Maathai said that she received the warning two hours after midnight Tuesday.
The Mungiki militia has been making a slow comeback on the Kenyan scene for the last few weeks.
