The war of words has now intensified between the two major parties as the political pressure continues to build up with only fourteen more days to go towards the General Elections.
The Party of National Unity (PNU) is now telling off the leader of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Raila Odinga over claims that members of his pentagon team are clean of corruption simply because none of them has by far been convicted nor prosecuted.
PNU’s Campaign manager George Nyamweya has said it would be dishonest for Raila to defend the same people he put in jeopardy earlier on with claims of corruption and also defend one of his knowing very well that he has a court case pending.
Nyamweya has added that the president Mwai Kibaki is committed towards appointing a Clean Hands Cabinet, made up of women and men of integrity from among the decent few that Kenyans will elect come the 27th December.
He has defended the president’s stand on appointing a clean government in his next government adding that corruption is still an issue that cuts across all political divides and fighting it would be about changing attitudes, value and ethics of an entire society by ensuring that rules and regulations are observed and enforced so that corruption can become costly.
Revisiting the issue of Majimbo (Swahili for devolution of power) Nyamweya has said that the president had devolved unprecedented power and resources to the communities in all corners of the country, through the devolved funds such as the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) which he has claimed is now admired and replicated throughout the world.
He has criticized Raila for coming up regional manifestos meant to govern the devolved states that the ODM is intending to build if they ascend to power and has gone further to urge Kenyans to vote in favour of a united state.
Nyamweya was reacting to sentiments put across by Honourable Raila Odinga on the eve of Jamhuri Day, defending his running mate Honourable Musalia Mudavadi and William Ruto over claims that they have been involved in corrupt dealings.
